Drumheller Guide | 1.5 hrs from Calgary

You may have heard of the very famous Royal Tyrell Museum (love it, highly recommend) but Drumheller is amazing in the summertime outside the museum too.

The big pull to the city is the Royal Tyrell Museum, a top class experience for all ages that includes the world's best collection and displays of dinosaur bones. I love my visits there and really enjoy taking our out-of-town visitors there too. I'll write more about my thoughts on the museum another time.

Other than the museum, what else is there to do in Drumheller?

Here are my favourite things to do in Drumheller:

  • Enjoy the Strawberry Rhubarb Sour at Valley Brewing's patio

  • Drive to the Hoodoos trail in East Coulee

  • Explore the 11 bridges road en route to the Last Chance Saloon for live music

  • Swim in the outdoor pool at the Drumheller Aquaplex (the view is unreal)

  • Say "We should go camping here next summer!" and never following through

  • Have a bite at Pho Dinosaur, or the Vintage Tap House

  • Play mini golf at The Sunny Spot

  • Walk around the city centre and take goofy pictures with the dinosaur statues

A note, a lot of the businesses I mentioned are seasonally open only for the summer.

Get out and discover Drumheller!
